The 2024 Paris Olympics is the most diverse to date, as it showcases athletic talent from across the globe. Of the 600 athletes representing the United States in the competition, over 140 hail from California, many with ties to the Bay Area. Known for our vibrant sports scene and rich history of athletic achievement, the Bay Area is sending athletes to compete in basketball, cycling, fencing, and more!

Here’s who to watch:

1. Steph Curry and Steve Kerr (men’s basketball): Among the most anticipated athletes competing in this year’s olympics, Golden State Warriors Steph Curry will be making his debut alongside his coach, Steve Kerr, and other NBA legends. Warriors  forward Gui Santos will also be competing with his home nation, Brazil.

2. Kristen Faulkner (cycling): SF resident, Faulkner, will be representing the USA in road and mountain cycling events. A former collegiate rower turned competitive cyclist, her journey to the olympics is defined by her determination and athelticism. Watch her compete on August 4th at 5am PST.

3. Massialas Family (fencing): Siblings Alexander and Sabrina Massialas, coached by their father, Greg Massialas, are set to compete in foil fencing competitions this year. Watch them in the individual foil competition on August 5th.

These competitions are available to watch live on NBCs Olympics website, or through NBCs television broadcasts. We hope you enjoy these events and support our Bay Area athletes!
