Happy Earth Day! This celebration is coming up on April 21 and is a great opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of your home and learn more about how we can help protect it. The Bay Area has plentiful festivals and fun events to promote community engagement and a healthier planet.
Here are a few of our favorite celebrations this weekend:
- Point Reyes Birding and Nature Festival: Join Point Reyes on a three-day extravaganza celebrating Earth Day by watching the incredible spring bird and wildlife migrations along the Pacific Flyway! There will be over 50 guided field events led by passionate birders and naturalists across Marin, Sonoma and Contra Costa along with a Friday Art show and a (free) Sunday family day. Join the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin (EAC) as they aim to bring birding to anyone who wants to enjoy Point Reyes’ wildlife! Find out more at their website here.
- Earth Day Celebration at San Francisco Botanical Gardens: Join the San Francisco Botanical Gardens for a fun-filled celebration of Earth Day fit for all ages. Enjoy the vast expanse of the Great Meadow and listen to readings from local children’s authors, participate in crafts, games, and more! Head nearby to enjoy the newly flowering cherry blossoms at the Japanese tea gardens. Find out more at their website here.
- Palo Alto Earth Day Festival: Join the Palo Alto community at their earth day festival from 1-4pm! Enjoy interactive games, meet local activists, and take a guided tour through Palo Alto’s pollinator gardens to learn more about how you can help preserve your local community. Follow updates at their website here.
… and many more! We hope you enjoy this celebration of the Bay Area’s wonderful wildlife and natural beauty.
