Happy New Year! Though the end of the holiday season as we resume school and work activities can be tough, it is also the start of Girl Scout Cookie Season! Enjoy some of the best cookies in town and support the young Girl Scout’s entrepreneurial spirit this year with $7 a box cookies. The season starts in January and runs through the spring, so be sure to stock up on all your favorite flavors!

Since the first cookie was sold in 1917, these cookies have been a cultural phenomenon supporting the Girl Scouts organization and teaching young scouts about goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics. The famous Thin Mints and Do-si-dos were introduced to the Girl Scouts in the 1950s, and have stayed as some of the best selling cookies ever since. Recently, there were an estimated 50 million boxes of Thin Mints sold in a year, making it the most popular cookie. The funds from these cookie sales support the Girl Scouts organization and local troops, with a long history supporting girls in outdoors and STEM education, and community involvement.

This year, in Northern California, there are 9 varieties of cookies being sold: Adventurefuls, Toast-yay!, Thin Mints, Caramel deLites (Samoas), Peanut Butter Patties (Tagalongs), Peanut Butter Sandwich (Do-si-dos), Trefoils, Caramel Chocolate Chip, and Lemonades. See more about their cookie flavors and varieties here. The Girl Scouts of Northern California have decided to discontinue the popular S’mores cookie and have announced that this will be the last year of Toast-yay! cookies, so be sure to get yours before they run out! The season starts on January 13th for digital sales, and February 6th for in-person sales. See a list of upcoming booths here, or reach out to a Girl Scout in your life for a link to order cookies online!
