Since 1950, the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA have served our community by taking care of our pets, supporting and rehabilitating local wildlife, and giving us a lifetime of memories through their adoption program. It is one of the largest organizations in the Bay Area that provides consistent care for our friends. In 2022 alone, they responded to over 11,000 calls for animal assistance. The Peninsula Humane Society not only provides shelter for stray pets, but wild animals are also cared for by a team of expert veterinarians and released back into the wild.
Primarily funded by private donations and with partial support by the county for animal rescue and control, the Peninsula Humane Society can always use volunteers and support. Last year their Kitten Nursery saved nearly 800 kittens separated from their mothers. Volunteering opportunities allow people ages 13 and over to tend to kittens, other pets, and wildlife care through animal enrichment programs. The Peninsula Humane Society is one of only a few shelters that are able to accept every animal that comes in, and one of even fewer to help rehabilitate injured wildlife. We are thankful to have this team of caring and motivated individuals able to support these animals in need of love.
The Peninsula Humane Society is one of the most prominent supporters and adoption centers in the Bay Area–never turning an animal friend away and providing care for all of them. Whether it’s participating in Peninsula Humane Society’s fantastic events, volunteering, or through direct donations, we encourage you to share your support today. Consider adding another friend to your house while you’re at it. The free tours of their kitten and puppy nurseries will surely steal your heart.
