The San Francisco Bay Area is home to the newest state-of-the-art sports arenas and championship-winning teams. With six teams competing in the NBA, NFL, MLS, NHL, and MLB, the Bay is a great place to be as a sports fan, and the wintertime is the perfect time to enjoy an outing with family. As the holidays are near and schedules start to open up, it’s a great time to support the best teams in the area!

    1. The SF 49ers: Playing a record-breaking season, the SF 49ers are based in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The team is named after the prospectors who arrived in the area during the Gold Rush and have won a total of 5 Super Bowls, the last in 1994. They will face the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday at home!
    2. Golden State Warriors: Known as one of the most dominant NBA teams in the last decade, the Golden State Warriors are based in the new Chase Center in San Francisco. Starting in 2025, a sponsored WNBA extension team will also be housed in the Bay Area! The Warriors play the Brooklyn Nets at home on December 16. 
    3. San Jose Sharks: The San Jose Sharks represent the Bay Area in the NHL, housed in the SAP Center in San Jose. Their season runs through April, and sports some of the best hockey in the country! They will house the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, December 12. 
    4. San Jose Earthquakes: Though not currently in season, the San Jose Earthquakes represent the Bay Area in Major League Soccer. They play at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose, which will soon also be home to the new NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) team, Bay FC. You can watch Bay FC’s draft on December 15 in preparation for their debut next year!
