As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, spring cleaning has arrived. Contrary to popular belief, you can turn this seasonal refreshment into a fun, gratifying activity.

The mood for the day starts with music. As you gear up for the day, curate a playlist of your favorite songs to look forward to during each task. Playing music will help you stay relaxed but can help keep your rhythm, allowing the tasks to go from a chore to a game. If you’re not a music fan, try tuning into your favorite podcast or audiobook; the stories will keep your spirits high as you transport into a new world. While the music is fun, it is best enjoyed with others; get someone to help and turn your tedious tasks into a dance party or karaoke day.

For competitive individuals, try making the day into a game. The competition can be rapid cleaning games to see who can do the most in five minutes or can be based on the entire home, competing to see who can do the most over the day. While cleaning will still happen, this offers a distraction and a chance to feel rewarded for the work done throughout the day.

When planning your day, be sure to have a reward waiting at the end as motivation. The opportunities are endless, whether it’s a date night, yoga class, or a nice dinner to unwind. This will help keep you on track because when you question your commitment, you’ll have an excellent reward waiting for you. Not only will you be able to relax, but you’ll also be able to do it in the comfort of your freshly cleaned and decluttered home.

What are you waiting for? Grab your supplies and dance your way to a fresh home!
