Thought Filoli couldn’t get better? It just did! For the summer, the historic house and garden have been transformed into a troll land. Contrary to popular belief, the trolls didn’t just walk into the garden. They were designed by the Danish artist Thomas Dambo, who focuses on eco-art, which aims to convey messages about the importance of environmental care.  Each troll has been built using reclaimed wood, symbolizing the beauty of utilizing what we already have.

The trolls have made their homes along a mile-long trail that will guide you through the Redwood and Oak trees that surround Filoli’s gardens. Their job is to both be fun and serve as “guardians of the land”. Their guardianship will run through November 10 and will be paired with a series of workshops and exploration programs.

Want to get to know the trolls before you go? Check them out here to learn what makes each one unique! Once you’re done, be sure to take the “What Troll Are You” quiz and don’t forget to say hello when you visit Filoli.
