Want to learn something new? The Bay Area’s various public libraries are a wonderful and free resource for all ages. The Peninsula Public Library system is vast and available for all your needs.

A library card ensures access not only to the physical location and books but also to Libby, an e-book and audio-book borrowing service, and Kanopy, a streaming service. These libraries can be found all along the peninsula, and each is unique and welcoming! Here are some of our favorites:

Burlingame Public Libraries: The Burlingame Public Library System has two locations—a main building off of Burlingame Avenue and a smaller branch on Easton. Both locations are open every day and provide engaging events and resources for all ages. Join the main location this Sunday, January 21, for a children’s book sale!

Redwood City Public Libraries: Redwood City is home to three public libraries. The Downtown Community Library houses their Makerspace, with various technology tools (3-D printers, laser cutters, robotics), sewing machines, and shared working spaces. This space puts on a variety of events and open hours to promote the development of STEAM education for all ages.

San Mateo Public Libraries: The city of San Mateo is home to three library branches and a comprehensive e-library, which can be found on their website. Their main branch is also home to the Job Seekers Center, a free, drop-in resource run by volunteers with HR and reaching backgrounds to aid in the job search.

To sign up for a library card, visit your local library's website and complete the procedures listed there.
