Happy Holidays! Looking for festive ways to celebrate the season with music? The Bay Area is home to countless youth and adult choirs and symphony groups, with performances that promise to put you in the spirit. Whether you are in San Francisco or along the Peninsula, there is something for anyone interested in live music this December. These performances showcase the region’s incredible musical talent, and offer unique interpretations on holiday classics that are fit for all ages.

Here are some of our favorites this season:

1. San Francisco Symphony: Founded in 1911, the San Francisco Symphony has become one of the premier orchestral institutions in the United States and beyond, boasting an Emmy Award and 15 Grammys in the past 26 years. This year, join the symphony for a Holiday Brass concert on December 11, and an orchestral interpretation of The Muppet Christmas Carol on December 12 and 14. They are located in Hayes Valley, San Francisco, at the iconic Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall – find more holiday events here!

2. Ragazzi Boys Chorus: Located in Redwood City, this youth boys chorus is one of the best youth choral groups in the nation. This holiday season, join Ragazzi for their Winter Recital of December 14 in Palo Alto, or their final holiday concert on December 15.

3. San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus: This historic choral group was the world’s first openly gay chorus in 1978, and is still one of the world’s largest. They have extensive history in community outreach and musical commissions across the world. This year, enjoy their Holiday Spectacular concert December 6. 7. 15. 21, and 24th.

4. San Francisco Girls Chorus: Established in 1978, SFGC is one of the largest and most experienced girls choral groups in the Bay Area. This year, enjoy their voices at the Holiday Concert at Kohl Mansion on December 15, or their Celtic Winter concert at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.

… And many more! We hope you enjoy the diverse and impressive musical scene in the Bay Area!
